Two JPF awards to Jurga from the USA

Jurga‘s song Smelio Zmones was selected the best European song in this weekend‘s Just Plain Folks awards in Nashville, TN, USA, whereas her 5^th Season won the Best R’n’B Song award and one of the producers of her Instrukcija album, Vee Diawara was awarded as the best producer.

Jurga was also amongst the closest candidates to other awards. The Instrukcija album was second in the Best European Album category, the video of 5^th Season took the third place among the music videos and the song Spiderwoman: Rising was the fourth amongst the best dance songs. Jurga now holds the record of JPF nominations with a single album, having received a total of eight nominations.

These victories are Jurga’s first in JPF awards. With songs from the Instrukcija album she has already become the best Baltic performer in the MTV European Music Awards and the winner of Sweden’s Baltic Song Contest.

JPF awards exist since 1999 and are dedicated to independent music makers and performers. The founder of the awards, Brian Austin Whitney started doing it being convinced that “the other 98%” of the music world are ignored by the mass-oriented TV channels and they deserve more attention.

“This year’s performers blew us away with their talent and passion and best of all with their warm, friendly enthusiasm. It was truly magical,” – said the organizer of the event Brian Austin Whitney. The show weekend in Nashville featured live performances from over 30 bands; all winners have been presented or mailed special prizes.

More than 42,000 albums, 560,000 songs from over 90 music styles were registered for the JPF awards in two years. The diverse geography of the participants encompasses even 160 countries. The submitted works were assessed by a jury of 10,000 members, music professionals, fans, the participants themselves and representatives of the composers. The only criterion for the evaluation was “does this music exites you?”

Releasing a new album +37° (Goal of Science) in the beginning of October, Jurga is planning to invite music lovers to the promotional shows on October 10 in Vilnius, October 17 in Klaipeda and October 24 in Kaunas.
