Jurga:

- January 8. Jurga introduced two new videos Smėlio žmonės and Sandman’s Child in Paparazzi bar. Smėlio žmonės became Jurga’s third music video from the album Instrukcija. A video was also made for the song’s English version Sandman’s Child. Both new videos were shot by RGB studio and directed by Rimantas Lukavičius. Sandman’s Child spent 10 weeks in MTV Baltic Top 100, reaching number 4 and was number 50 in the MTV Baltic Top 100 of the year.       

- January 17. Jurga’s fourth radio single Angelai from the Instrukcija album has been released in Lithuania. The song reached number 4 in Radiocentras Lithuanian Top 20, where it became a Gold single and topped FM99 Top 10.

- January 18. Jurga received a special award for the truth in Pravda  Newcomer Awards for expressing her stance in the Municipality Awards that took place in Vilnius Town Hall in December 2007. Two years ago Jurga had won Pravda awards for the Best New Act and the Best New Song of the Year.

- January 24. Jurga received Woman of the Year award founded by women’s magazine Moteris.

- February 7. Jurga’s new CD single Sandman‘s Child was released, including the original version of the song together with its Lithuanian counterpart Smėlio žmonės, an Afghan folk song Ansuya Darya performed in Dari language, two remixes of the song and both music videos shot in Afghanistan. The single also includes a short behind-the-scenes travelogue. The Sandman’s Child CD was amongst the presents given to participants of the Meeting of NATO Defense Ministers in Vilnius.

- February 20. Jurga’s radio single Sandman’s Child was released internationally. The song was aired by Latvian, Estonian, German radio stations. On the 3rd of March, Sandman’s Child was released online.

- March 13. In Forum Palace, Vilnius, Jurga played the biggest and completely sold-out unplugged concert in her career.

- March 20. Jurga took part in a solemn Lithuanian Honour event in Vilnius.

- April 1. Jurga participated in the celebration of Užupis Republic in Vilnius.

- April 7. Jurga’s song 5th Season reached number 1 in a popular Hungarian radio station MR2. It became the first song by a Lithuanian artist to top a foreign chart ever.

- April 21. Jurga’s last radio single Juodos gulbės from the album Instrukcija was released in Lithuania. It reached number 7 in Radiocentras Lithuanian Top 20, where it became a Gold single and number 1 in FM99 Top 10.

- May 13. Jurga’s song 5th Season was included in a music compilation Made in LT: the Best of Lithuanian Music (Second Edition).

- May 18. Jurga’s first book Pasaka apie Slieką ir jo draugą Pašiauštą (A Tale of a Brandling and His Friend Fluffy) hit the Lithuanian bookstores. Its theatrical promotions took place in three Lithuanian cities – Vilnius, Kaunas and artist’s native Palanga.

- May 30. Together with an eminent Lithuanian piano player Petras Geniušas, Jurga played a live concert closing the first Interest music festival in Vilnius. Their performance gathered over a thousand people, completely filling the forecourt of the Church of St Johns.

- July 13. With a selection of her own songs, Jurga opened for the Icelandic music star Björk in the capital’s Vingis Park. She introduced her brand new song Tyliai. Jurga’s performance was followed by the main act of the evening featuring Björk’s newest songs and the greatest hits. The concert was attended by around 15,000 people.

- August 5. In the catacombs of the capital’s Cathedral, Jurga recorded vocals for her song Seniai toil, which she dedicated to Lithuania.

- August 20. Slovenian radio station’s RTV Slovenija program Music of the Worlds dedicated 45 minutes to the introduction of Jurga. It broadcasted Jurga’s songs from both of her albums.

- August 28. A new Jurga’s radio single Tyliai hit Lithuanian stations after a long break. The song was sent out on the day when the singer gave birth to her son Adas and became third most popular Jurga’s song since her biggest superhit Nebijok - it reached number 2 in Radiocentras Lithuanian Top 20, where it became a Gold single and number 1 in FM99 Top 10. At the end of the year, it took the 24th place in Radiocentras’  Lithuanian Top 30 of 2008.  

- September 25. Lithuanian radio stations received another brand new Jurga’s song Centre of the World, a dance song featuring Virus J. This radio single reached number 1 in Zip.fm and FM99 Top 33.

- October 6. Lithuanian TV channels started broadcasting the latest Jurga’s music video I Wonder, made by Creator studio and directed by Giedrė Žickytė. The I Wonder video reached number 5 in MTV Baltic Top 20 and at the end of the year took number 63 in MTV Baltic Top 100.

- October 10. Special edition of Jurga’s debut album Aukso pieva was released, complementing a note and chord book. Aukso pieva became the first Lithuanian pop album released with notes and chords. Vaclovas Augustinas, composer, conductor and a member of the band Antis, worked on the notes’ collection and their musical edition and Romas Rainys, who plays guitar in Jurga’s band, made his contribution by writing down the chord positions.

- November 10. Jurga’s radio single I Wonder was released internationally.

- November 21. After more than a half-year break, Jurga played a sold-out concert in Vilnius’ Forum Palace where she performed several new songs including Seniai toli, which she has dedicated to Lithuania, accompanied by her musicians and a string band. The concert was attended by 1,300 people.

- December 3. Jurga took part in a charity auction of handcrafts made by women from Gore province in Afghanistan. The event took place in the American Center of the US Embassy.
